After lenghthy negotiations, Mosta FC have acquired the services of striker Simon Shead on a one-year loan from Tarxien Rainbows. The Blues won the race for the prolific striker after several clubs expressed their desire to sign him. He was the Blues' main target for this season and his signing meant a great coup for the club.
Club President George Galea said: 'We knew other clubs were interested in Simon, but as he was on the wish list of our coach Oliver Spiteri, we had to move quickly. I am very pleased that he will be wearing the blue colours of Mosta this season.'
Shead, who yesterday received his First Division Top Scorer award for last season at the MFA Annual Awards Ceremony in St. Julian's, will bolster the Blues front line in no small way. He is a proven goalscorer with a career goal total of 144 goals. His most prolific seasons have been the last two with 17 and 20 goals in seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10 playing for Pieta Hotspurs and Balzan Youths respectively.
Last season, playing for Balzan Youths, he was a thorn in our side as he was on target in the 2-2 draw in the first round, and then came off the bench to score twice to help the Reds to an emphatic 3-0 win in the second round.
Welcome, Simon.
